Forecast: Leveraging and supporting India’s ‘demographic dividend’ will soon become the focus of many nations (beyond India) as a driver of economic growth and geopolitical stability in the next fifty years.
Having spent nearly two years of my life living in South Asia (Nepal and India), I will admit a favorable (and optimistic) bias towards the subcontinent (India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan).
Despite the many obstacles, I think South Asia’s influence in the next century will be overwhelmingly positive across a wide spectrum of indicators for economic growth and quality of life for people around the globe. South Asia has a lot to contribute in the next century, and there is little doubt that leveraging India’s demographic fortunes will be key to success.
