Danneille-- I was probably being dramatic there.. but addressing the very common 'fear' response of living more transparent lives - or 'quantified self' lives (http://quantifiedself.com/)

I think what is missing in learning - as source of continual development-- is a transparency that can support accountability, improvement and self-awareness. We don't know what we know - or don't know! And in my future vision of the world- a 4th grader knows exactly what they know - every step of the way. And the teachers that we encounter know exactly what we know and don't know... Right now I think teachers/schools and people are afraid of being transparent in what they know/don't know.. and where they might need to improve. I'm not even sure how we judge it?!

How do we surmount fear and confusion? Beyond transparency and shifting cultural expectations towards lifelong learning and continual improvement...? I don't know!
A hard question to answer-- any thoughts?

'fear and confusion will shut down otherwise open minds'

That sentence struck me as very interesting, i suppose i identified with it in some way.
I love the idea of a life underpinned with the notion of continuous improvement.
But how do we surmount this fear and confusion?
